Black berries grow in locations throughout the United States and can easily be picked in either June or July. They also grow very well in areas of British Columbia and Brazil, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. More than 100 varieties of black berries have been identified. They have to be ripe before you pick them as they will not ripen off the vine. Tons of black berries in Brazil are wasted each year as their culture believes that if you don’t pick them by the middle of September then they belong to the devil.

You can also purchase them at the grocery store or farm markets. Black berries don’t stay fresh for long though so you have to eat them within a few days of making your purchase. They tend to grow mold on them if you leave them at room temperature so store them in a refrigerator when you can. Many people buy large amounts of black berries and then freeze them so that they can enjoy fresh black berries all year long.
Black berries are one of the cheapest kinds of berries you can find because they grow in a variety of locations so you aren’t paying the expense of shipping them a long distance. The verdict is still out in regards to the flavor of black berries though and it appears that either you like them or you don’t.
